The end of support for these legacy versions doesn't officially come until the end of this year, so fans are wondering what happened. It's entirely possible that this was a mistake on Capcom's part, and that the games might have accidentally downgraded from DX12 to a DX11 build during the patch, which doesn't support features like ray tracing and 3D audio. More specifically, it wouldn't be supporting builds of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 that are using DirectX 11. While the reason why is currently unknown, the most likely reason and dominating theory are tied to Capcom ending its support with legacy versions of certain Resident Evil games. Another set of users also reported that the HDR in both games wasn't working correctly following this update. As a result, many tried to report this issue to Steam and also voiced their grievances on Reddit. One player on the Steam forums noted that Resident Evil 2 was missing the ray tracing option, with others on Reddit also reporting the same thing, seeing that Resident Evil 3 was also affected. Last year, Capcom added this feature to the PC versions of three Resident Evil games in a big "next-gen" update, which included Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3.
